Vevor Clamshell Press Review + Step By Step Instructions
If you’re looking to take your custom apparel game to the next level, a heat press machine is a must-have tool—and the VEVOR Clamshell Heat Pressl is one of the most affordable and reliable options out there. Whether you’re pressing leatherette patches onto beanies, customizing t-shirts, or creating unique gifts, this heat press delivers consistent, professional-quality results without breaking the bank. In this post, I’ll share my experience using the VEVOR Heat Press, especially for pressing leatherette patches, and why I think it’s a great choice for both beginners and seasoned crafters alike.
VEVOR CLAMSHELL HEAT PRESS REVIEW
Performance: 5/5
The heat press heats up quickly and evenly, ensuring that the leatherette patches adhere perfectly to the beanie fabric. I’ve used it with a variety of materials, including polyester beanies and leatherette patches, and I’ve gotten consistent results every time. The temperature control is precise, and I appreciate the digital readout for both temperature and time, making it easier to fine-tune settings. For leatherette patches, I find that setting (for Custom Beanies) the temperature around 320°F for 15 seconds works best, but you can adjust depending on the material and patch size.
Ease of Use: 5/5
As a beginner, I was worried about the learning curve with a clamshell press, but the VEVOR model is incredibly user-friendly. The clamshell design is simple to operate, and it doesn’t take up too much space, which is great for my small workspace. The handle is sturdy, and pressing down is effortless, even with heavier materials like leatherette. I also appreciate the safety features, such as the automatic shut-off when the timer reaches zero.
Build Quality: 4.5/5
The build quality is solid. The frame feels durable, and the plates heat evenly. The machine is relatively compact, making it easy to store away when not in use. The only minor issue I’ve encountered is that it can get a little warm to the touch around the handles after extended use, but this is typical with heat presses and is not a deal-breaker.
Consistency: 4.5/5
The press provides consistent pressure, which is crucial when working with patches. I’ve experienced no issues with uneven pressing, and the Lonestar Adhesive No Foam Leatherette patches adhere smoothly without bubbling or lifting. If you’re working with different materials (like fabric or leather), you may need to experiment with time and temperature, but overall, I’m very pleased with the consistency it offers.
Value for Money: 5/5
For the price, the VEVOR Heat Press is a fantastic investment, especially for small business owners or hobbyists who need a reliable and affordable option for heat pressing patches onto clothing or accessories. It performs just as well as more expensive models I’ve used in the past, and I love the fact that I can press items like beanies with ease. The quality you get for the price makes it an excellent choice for anyone starting out in heat pressing or looking for an upgrade.
PRESSING BEANIES
1) SET TIME AND TEMP (320/15) :

We recommend setting the clamshell press to 320°F with a 15-second timer. Based on our experience with the beanies we use, this is the optimal time and temperature for a clean press without any bubbling or peeling.
2) BEANIE PLACEMENT:

3) SILCONE PAD/PATCH PROTECTION:
4) PRESS BEANIE/PATCH:
5) LET FINSIHED PATCH COOL:
This step is often overlooked, but in our opinion, it’s one of the most important. Allowing the adhesive on the patch to cool completely is crucial. If the adhesive is still hot, it remains pliable and can easily lift off the beanie. Once fully cooled, the adhesive has bonded securely to the beanie material, ensuring the patch stays in place without risk of lifting or shifting.
